WORK IN PROGRESS.

Floris Evolved won't start without asking for serial key in trial version. But when I launch the vanilla Warband it doen't do that. Not sure if any of the fixes here work. I don't know what WSE is. Edit: I managed to get the game working launching from Steam and selecting the floris expanded module, however, the game is a buggy mess.

I will be adding to this reguarly until it's complete.
Why?
I just felt that there needed to be a brief manual for a complete begginner. To stop them (like me) cluttering up the forums with gameplay questions. I also suck at programming, but I feel the Floris team has done loads of work on this mod, this is my way of helping out as thanks. Feel free to post any improvements you think I should have, or any mistakes I will undoubtly make. (but not spelling mistakes, I'll sort that at the end, as well as making it look pretty).
Disclaimer
I am not part of the dev team. In case you hadn't guessed by the pitchfork under my name.
I will not be going into technical detail. I.e. how to edit unwanted parts of mod. Ask the dev team(but first check the official FAQhttp://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,148144.0.html)
I will update this as the dev's update the mod but I'll be slower than they are .[/color]
General Quick Start Guide
World Map
1. Towns
1.1 Go to Castle – go to castle, talk to Lord or lady of the household. Unmarried ladies aren’t present here and can only be introduced to during a feast/tournament.
1.2 Join Tournament – option only available when a tournament is actually on. Tournaments have been heavily changed in Floris and this is discussed in the Interface>Camp>Mod Options section.
1.2 Take a walk – the only way to initially meet the guild master and ‘ungrey’ the option to quick talk to him. Also allows breaking into prison and recruiting unique units near GM.
1.3 Enter the tavern – here you can recruit companions, mercananeries or freelancers (see freelancer section). Get quests from farmers seeking aid to bandit infestations. You can also buy everyone in the town a drink to moderately boost relations.
1.4 Enter arena – compete in survival style arena combat or spar with your companions when no tournament is on.
1.5 Go to the Marketplace – the main place where you will be selling all your junk. Sell items automatically allows you to give parameters to your companions about what junk they should sell at at what maximum price (in case your keeping that super fancy sword). See also Manage Companions Inventory Section. Assess trade prices allows for working out profit of trade routes dependent on trade skill.
1.6 Wait here – heal quicker and rest the night at accommodation cost.
1.7 Meet the Guildmaster – unlocked after finding him from taking a walk. Ask him questions to work out the safety of the world, ask for quests or set up a ‘productive enterprise’ which will be shut down temporarily if you ever go to war with the owners of the town.
1.8 Visit the Landlords and Moneylenders – lovely new feature to Floris where you can take a loan out, buy land for profit. Loan will accrue interest to maximum of 40% on top of what your borrowed (you cant take anymore loans out until the first is paid). The land prices and yield WILL fluctuate and is dependent on how prosperous the City is and will reach a certain ‘saturated point’ – so don’t keep cultivating new land thinking it is limitless profit. The yield on the land is paid every TWO weeks as opposed to one and must be collected form visiting the town and going to the landlords unlike busineses.
1.9 Visit the Port – And buy a ship! Woo sailing. Pricey at 50,000 and there are many bandits out there. Also do take note and take cheap units with you, in sea battles units tend to walk off the side and drown (goodbye my faithful I7 Nords….)
2. Villages
2.1 Recruit Volunteers - your staple diet of peasant recruits. Gives recruits of faction whose owned this village at time the game starts (troop faction type will never change regardless who owns village). Greater than or equal to 10 relation with town gives a 10% chance to recruit higher tier unit. Every 10 relaiton after this gives +1 to tier yield of troop. That means with +100 relation you can recruit I7 units instantly! New recruits available every 72 hours as the hovels are secretely accelerated cloning tanks. At relation 0 you will get 0-8 recruits. At relation 4 you get the chance for ‘large recruitment’
MATHS Game takes your relation with village and divides by 2 then adds 6 to give maximum recruits.
2.2 Go to Village Center – Find the Village Elder, recruit unique units or track down that outlaw.
2.3 Meet with village Elder- Greyed out until you find him by walking around Village. Floris forces you to do this at least once because they have created some spectacularly lovely village settings (like seriously they are historically accurate as well). Talking to him also yields quests or you can buy CATTLE from him and stop pillaging a town every time you get that damned stupid quest of “get me beef!”
2.4 Buy supplies – buy supplies from the village stores. Dependent on village and also if any caravans have passed by recently.
2.5 Take hostile action. You cruel dude. Four options. Forcefully take supplies – Take a few supplies relation hit. Steal cattle – steal cattle, number based on looting skill, again relation hit and also takes time. Loot & Burn – takes a long time and peasants may rise up. Lots of loot (dependent on village prosperity and major relation hit) and lots n lots o’ butter! if you’re running 1.158+ [it’s a known bug].
3. Parties
Counters representing every army and citizen that you can do battle with in Caladria.
3.1 Lords – Allegiance to a faction and has units relating to his starting faction, regardless of which faction he moves to. Size dependent on leadership etc and also role in Facitons. Marshalls have slightly increased armies whereas Kings have majorly large armies.
3.2 Bandits - 5 types, one for each faction location. Forest, Tundra, Desert, Sea Raiders & Mountain bandits. Generally speaking your main combatants early game. Become VERY dangerous when yhey have leaders. Many bandit parties can follow leader and this close proximity means they engaging them will generally mean vs 400+ in reinforcements.
3.3 Looters – Crap bandits. Only appear in early game. My grandmother could take them out.
3.4 Manhunters – “Bandit hunters”. Inverted commas because they are generally **** at this after early/mid game. Neutral and wont attack you and might even help you when fighting bandits.
3.5 Caravan – Faction allied traders. Generally simple to deal with but don’t hold as much loot as you’d think. [What is this dependent on?]
4. Castles
Floris5. Interface
5.1 Camp
5.1.1Manage companions inventory
Yes no longer do you need to be the mule. After battles your companions will carry the loot you chose not to take and you can view it here. Also feel free to drop stuff from your own inventory into the pool to the left and they’ll carry it.
-Note that they won't automatically sell 'goods' [Needs confirmation]. That is they wont sell iron/wool/velvet etc regardless of price settings. Makes it nice to be able to store lots for those trade runs. Food in companions inventory will not be consumed by your army.
5.1.2Manage Split Troop Assignments
A more advanced feature for later times. Gives the ability to split groups of units into sub divisions for easier command on battlefield.
5.1.3Inspect Camp
Yes now you can walk about camp, access your baggage and enjoy your companion’s company. For now though just wander about your camp and wonder how you yourself managed to pitch five tents, start four fires and drag a wagon all by your lonesome.
5.1.4Spend X hours entrenching you camp
Now you can fortify your camp in preparation for being attacked. X? More like XX hours! It will decrease the more men you have (down to a minimum of 2 #Please confirm?#).
5.1.5Mod options
A list of optional features of the mod that you can tweak.
Key gameplay things to note (some can be changed*):
-You can drown*
-If you charge your horse at a spear wall you'll be on foot the rest of the battle. They've been tweaked to be able to brace. You can do it by pressing b.*
-Brand new formations.
-Lost your horse? Press m (whistle).
-You can enable a minimap!
-If your using the battlesize changer make sure you set the limit here so that tactical things still work.
What they all do: (Quote borrowed from Caba’drin)
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,172141.msg4149711.html#msg4149711
5.1.6Tournament Options
Tournaments are now new and improved. For detailed information click Credit & Information in the Tournament Options section for a in depth guide. In brief your no longer out the tournament if you are knocked out, points are awarded and places 1st – 3rd are given rewards. Bets are bet and collected after every round and are for your team winning, not you. So you can get knocked out and if your team then wins, you win the bet at the odds given. You can customize your equipment. Loads more, seriously read the guide.
One thing you will notice though is that Tournaments are MUCH harder. Lords have been tweaked to be very powerful. So you'll be wanting to be nearer level 20 before you start have an even chance.
5.2 Reports
With tweaked interface tracking everything in game is MUCH easier.
At the top you’ll see some info on your character as well as when the next pay day for troops is.
I’d advise to look at Reference Material first.
Personal Reports
Keep track of your character, their courtships and the budget and financial section
Financial section
Keeps track of ‘assets’. You can now buy land in all the towns that will earn you rent money every 2 weeks. Rent is 10% of cost of the land. More on that in Town Overview.
Party reports
Detailed and much easier to use UI for information on party. Click and look, this is the obvious stuff I’m avoiding.
Kingdom Reports
Same as party but for Kingdoms. Again click and look.
Reference Material:
>Upgrade Trees: Full detailed list of every faction and sub faction’s troop tree list. Click on the units and you get even more information about each.
>Item List: Lists every item in the game. WARNING some sections (such as armour) can take a while to load.
All the other menus are the same as in native

Detailed Guides

Freelancing
With freelancing you can now talk to a lord and join his army. Yup as a solider on the frontline. Everything now quoted from the Freelancer forums:
'About Freelancer Mod
Currently this mod allows the player to enlist in a lord's army with the opportunity to gain experience and money.
Follow your Lord where ever they go, fighting many enemies and gaining ranks as you continue as a single
member of your Lords army. Each time you gain a rank you will be supplied with new equipment and gain a higher
pay. Once you get bored with this career you can either desert or mutiny. While in your Lords service you gain
the respect of your fellow soldiers and there's always a chance that some of your acquaintances will become
followers and join you in your revolution or desertion! As will prisoners, but will they work with you or against you?
Current Features
-Opportunity to gain ranks
-Carry your lords heraldry on armor and shields
-In-Game Report on Commanders Party
-The ability to go to the town the Lord has entered
-Factions remember what your last rank was with them. When you return they will remember you and your previous status. (unless you desert or rebel)
-Players kill count at the end of battles.
-Ability to go on personal leave and remain part of commanders army.
-You only have a 14 day grant of leave, after 14 days you will be branded a deserter. (Thanks to DrTomas for the main idea)
-Opportunity to gain different soldier tiers
-New equipment & higher pay for each tier
-Ability to desert the army and take followers with you.
-Ability to revolt against the lord and release prisoners (with a chance of prisoners joining the battle on your side)
-Interact with commander in a meeting scene
-Ask commander personally to retire from service
-No need to hold space bar while commander travels
-Quartermaster hands you food when you are low.
-You can no longer have prisoners as a common soldier
-A few more bug fixes, ie complete removal of 'that was a good fight' bug
-Relations change when you are not in lords army (vacation)
-Player being able to pick up items from the battlefield and keeping them.
-Player unable to ride a horse in battle unless his/her troop tier uses them
-Revamped and detailed equipment system so player get everything they are meant to (yes and helms)
-Also have all items taken back from previous tier when promoted.
-Troops will get a guaranteed shield if their troop tier usually has them. Same goes for horses.
-Your original equipment is returned when you leave.

Starting Out
First thing you’ll realise: You’ve been given a you suck with and just been gubbed by a lone bandit [hint, put your shield away]…but fear not your saved by the merchant as usual and that quest line progresses as normal.
First Days
Right you get it , but you just want to jump in and play? Okay where to start? You've always got the option of going it alone as you did in Native. Deliver messages, kill some fugitives, hunt some raiders etc. Other options:
Later Days
A list of gameplay changes that you'll probably start to notice later on. For when you start your own army but before you own a castle or town.
Unique Units
You can now recruit unique units from towns/castles/villages. They stand next to the guildmaster/village elder. They give a bonus to certain skills. I.e scouts give a bonus to spotting skill. For a full list of who they are and what they docheck below in the 'Submod in Floris>The Descriptions>Items>Units'
Bandits
Yes you did just see them wipe a Lord's army out. Bandits have been ever so slightly vamped up. They now have leaders, and can travel in very large groups. They (as with Lord Parties in Native) increase in size as you level up. You can also tweak these amounts to, for example, have less parties follow the leader, change the max size of parties, change the maximum number of parties on map etc. Please see monnikje's FAQ (stickied). [I wont link to these unless the demand is high enough].

What Does Floris Change?
Summary
For those of you who can't be bothered following links and reading
For those of you who can't be bothered following links and reading
Animations (2 mod):
Couple of animations. Combat one can be turned off if you dont like it.
Items (44 mods):
F*ck going through them all. Mainly improve upon Native and add a lot more depth to the game. Main ones ot note are:
Deployable Pavise Shield - Shield that you can throw and acts as a barrier!
Music (4 mods):
Self explantory. This stuff really adds the the immersion although I do miss the big beardy nordic guy in the start screen with 'DUM DUM DUM DUM!!!!' far too loud from speakers.
Scene Props & Scenes (15 mods):
Arena, castles, villages & training camps all improved. Arena and castles will be impacting you the most. Some castles are now SIGNIFICANTLY harder to take. All of the models are at least based off era-proper buildings. The castles are taken directly from archaeoligy 'blueprints'. Arenas now entirely dependent on town and with a faciton flavour. [Though I would say some Flora in the Nordic region is a pain]
Scripts (33 mods and scripts):
New skill - foraging (collect food from land)
Archers get terrain advantage.
Bordguards/Escorts now guard you in a town or village. No more fighting 20 banidits from an ambush yourself.
Choose commander before a battle - pick a companion to play as instead of you.
Companions overview - nice table to summarise companions skills and equipment.
Diplomacy upgrades. Lords & Companions have historically accurate titles. Spears now beat cavalry & loads of improvements on giving orders, cosmetics, UI upgrades, AI and of course Sea battles!
Skins (8 mods):
Less ugly people..slightly. They've tried their best!
Sounds (4 mods)
Better sounding battles cries, weapons noices. Sounds less like porn that native.
Textures (14 mods):
Textures improvements, can't really much more.
Floris specific works and works by Floris members (18 works):
In summary a boatload of small features that take the game from being good to great. Multiple UI improvements and various gameplay features added or improved. Notable are the freelancer system and the seafaring system. Though I've found these great fun its the UI improvements that you cant go without.

Animations
Combat Animation Enhancement v5.0: Makes combat look slightly smoother. To quote Papa Lazrou's words 'to make combat look more natural without making large mechanical changes'.
Papa's Community Animations: Same guy same dream. But for new modded combat features shield bash and spear brace.
Items
I am NOT going through every one. I'll skip the ones that add anything you can buy at merchants. You'll discover them yourself. Needless to say though all troops look a LOT different with new outfits and armour. Oh and bandits have been given a facelift.
The ones that will actually affect gameplay are:
Deployable Pavise Shield: As it says. A big pavise shield you can deploy and hide behind. Crossbows for the win.
New Units:
