Wordaizer is a free tool for creating 'word clouds', a form of artwork where words are organised and arranged to fill a shape.
The screenshot has some simple examples (see the program's web page for others), and you can probably think of more to suit your own circumstances.
Simple examples: if someone's about to get married, try using the lyrics of their favourite song to fill a heart shape. Or if you have strong views about a country, positive or negative, fill an outline of its map with appropriate words.
Making this happen isn't too difficult, once you've figured out the basics. Load a built-in mask, which defines the shape you're going to fill (these can be drawn or created, too), specify the text you're going to use, and produce your cloud with a click.
The initial results won't always be good, but usually improve significantly when you've tweaked the text, font, size and colour settings.
The finished image may be saved as an image, a PDF, or even a Windows metafile. Choosing the last option gives you a vector file which can be resized without losing image quality, ideal if you need to print large posters.
The program can also create videos which show your chosen words as they spin and move into shape. It's a surprising extra which could give your creations much more impact -- there are more examples at the bottom of Wordaizer's web page.
These more advanced features aren't always easy to understand, but there's a tutorial available if you need it.
Verdict:
Wordaizer is an interesting word-art tool which offers lots of creative possibilities. It's not always easy to use and there seemed to be a few bugs, but stick with the program, work through the tutorial and you'll soon be producing some impressive artwork.
